Graphalloy® Bearings for Nuclear Applications available from FTL Technology
Graphalloy® has
many applications for pumps in nuclear plants, including Graphalloy grade GM 111.3 (nickel grade) for outside re-circulation spray pumps. Also,
Core Spray and heat removal pumps use GM 111.3 which is also a good grade for boiler feed pumps.
Primary Nuclear Pumps tend to use GMK 703 bushings (resin impregnated, non-metal grade of Graphalloy). These are located under the mechanical
seal assembly, refer to page 14 in our pump guide (DS2600) for a typical arrangement drawing of the pump.
Graphalloy bushings and bearings help:
- Reduce Maintenance - extend run times between inspections and reduced wear
- Improve Reliability - reduce vibration (lower clearance due to self-lubrication properties of Graphalloy) and less start-up wear
- Increase Safety - Ability to run non-lubricated during periods of loss of suction flow, cavitation and unexpected accidents
Currently, Graphalloy products are used in 54 nuclear units throughout North America.
GRAPHALLOY® is a registered trademark of Graphite Metallizing Corp.
